Soca artiste Arrow of Hot Hot Hot fame is dead.

Mantius and wishes to express sincerely condolences to the family, friends, relatives and fans of the late soca artist, Alphonsus Cassell, more popular known as Arrow, who died today, September 15, 2010. He died in Monsterrat, his country of birth. The soca superstar had battled with a brain tumor.

This is a great loss to the soca/calypso music industry and fraternity. Arrow was the Caribbean's most successful soca entertainer.

Arrow is the first artiste to put soca and calypso music on the map with the biggest soca hit ever, Hot Hot Hot. Hot Hot Hot has sold over 15 million copies worldwide, and millions of copies recorded in twelve different languages, and different versions.

Arrow is the first calypso soca artist to be awarded the prestigious MBE by the Queen for his service to music.

His music will live on. May he rest in peace.

Arrow (November 16, 1954 - September 15, 2010) (One of Soca's greatest artists, Arrow has died.)

Re-release of Arrow's albums
by: martycee

Where and to whom can we bring pressure to have Arrow's back catalogue re-released on CD. I am desperate to get the original Hot Hot Hot album and any others he recorded but H H H in particular. As a white Anglo Saxon raised in a middle class suburb of North London I hadn't heard Soca till Hot Hot Hot became a world wide smash. I immediately ran out and bought the album and was utterly blown sideways. I've been a devotee of the genre ever since.

As a professional musician myself I remember how excited I was the first time I heard the sheer brilliance of the playing on his albums, in particular the genius horn arrangements and virtuoso bass playing.

We need to hear him commercially again. Any info would be gratefully received. A great man and a great loss. Martin. (
