Please help me find this song!

by Leslie
(Atlanta Ga USA)

This song was popular in the late 70's or early 80's. I heard it in St. Thomas during carnival - over and over and over again and I never got tired of it. I thought it would be easy to find but I never found the title. So here is what some of the lyrics sound like to me:

La la
La la lay la la la la
La la lay la la la la
La la lay la la la la

(then it sounded like a man's voice shouting "jump up!"

It had horns, drums and it was one of the happiest songs I ever heard.
I called it the La la jump up song and have never been able to find it. Definitely a calpyso beat and the music builds going towards the chorus. Can anyone help me??
