This is very simple to understand from where I stand - It is all about the market and marketing of the product.
So called small island music is just as good as music from the rest of the Caribbean. The one thing take note of is that Trinidad has been and continues to be the Mecca for Soca music for many reasons. However, this does not mean that the music coming out of Trinbago is better that the music coming from the rest of the islands.
Our carnival is the biggest and most significant in the Caribbean and the money to support it. Money, Market first to jump off in the Caribbean and the volume of music is just tremendous compared to the rest of the region.
