by Anonymous

I think both people and goverment is spending to much money and time on carnival. It is so evil the bible says all envying, murder, drunkenness revellings and such like of the which i i tell you before as i have also told you in time past that they which do such thing shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Gal.5 21.

Christian Responsibility

You have a lot of nerve to beat down Carnival and quote the Bible on SocaFreak! Is that what you do? Look for outlets to convict people? I actually AGREE with you for the one purpose and I hope you sent it with that at heart.
Carnival is not evil............the heart of man and woman is the vehicle for evil to reside in....Carnival is a celebration......the name alone says it all....."removing the veil from the flesh....or farewell to the flesh.....
It's what people do at Carnival that appears evil, it's an excuse to drop your personal morals and live like the devil for a few days....? Yes, abandonment of reason and sanity can be liberating as long as it doesn't infringe on anothers' well-being, but we all may have experienced the drunkedess, promiscuity, revelling and the parasites who prey on the revellers. Carnival is what YOU bring to it, for some, it's the only time they can get someone to be close to, you see some of these folks on Ash Wednesday, all trim and proper once again, these are the real masqueraders. Like they say, guns don't kill people....people kill people, the same goes for a celebration, a large proportion of the folks it attracts decide to leave their conscience and reason at home. You know these people......they start saving for a costume the day after Carnival for next year! This IS a lot of money! That's their priority. I've been with a lot of church folks and the religious community and they are no different when you open the weave. People are people and subject to every temptation and thought to entertain. WE decide how we're going to act and live in society. People will capitalise on anything! I myself have faced the struggle of Carnival, you can enjoy it at every level, even a spectator, you don't have to get down and dirty, and I don't mean body paint and mud! It is a wise person who questions.

Carnival De Best
by: Annisa

Most people would agree with you, for those WHO really dont understand the true meaning of Carnival, may say other wise.I am an american born but my mother is from the West Indies. As I have grown up to understand the true meaning of carnival which is the Emancipation Of Slavery. When you hear people say they are going to "...free up demselves, and breakaway..." there is true meaning to that. They are breaking away the spirits of the slaves who didnt have their freedom , and now WE do. To the outside world YES Carnival may look like we are celebrating/ praising the dead and the eveil. Liek I said we are just prasing the fact that our spirits are free.
So when the African culture dance around their fire, with customes and their drinks and their tale traditions, whould you tell dem the same thing???????

FOR CRYING OUT LOUD
by: Anonymous in Toronto

The Bible also says judge not lest ye be judged. I have been attending church since I was 10 years old and have heard many references to Jesus loving a party. Also, I have attended many soca parties in church halls. I wonder how mr/miss "Carnival is evil" found this site and time to write such a negative comment? I suggest you peddle your negativity elsewhere.

The "West Indian Hump"
by: Anonymous

Carnival in and of itself is not evil. It's what the people do during carnival that makes it evil. Little girls gyrating their hips in a very "air sex" kind of way and ladies (?) of all shapes, sizes and ages grinding their way down Main Street in flesh baring outfits that allow the citizenry to see much more of some bodies than they ever wanted to. Huge, fleshy, females moving their pelvises in such a way that one might assume they are having sex with an imaginary person - doesn't seem to matter if it's male or female. Sex is the reason for the season. Sex and alcohol and grease. Most call it "Culture", but after 25 years of "it", I call it an excuse to behave like beasts for a couple of weeks and produce lots of children with people you don't know very well and cerainly don't much care about. Charming? Culture? I don't believe this mess every year is culture. The word just makes it more acceptable as an activity. "Act like you just don't care" is the theme for each and every carnival. That would be alright if people did, in fact, really "care" about anything for the rest of the year. Sadly, most don't care about much of anything except the next excuse to show each other how much they don't care. Very shallow, ignorant and boring. There is more to life than working your hips into a frenzy and/or drinking more than the next guy, or producing human children that you aren't smart enough to raise with any skill or dignity. This is what carnival is covering - cultural shallowness and the inability to do anything else very well. West Indians are definately good dancers and sex'rs- not very useful skills in the greater scheme of things. The bottom line is: Carnival is nasty and a huge waste of money. Not to mention the incredible amounts of trash it produces and damaged families. A waste of time. Unfortunately, the governments in this part of the world see carnival as something tourists will flock to see. Don't they realize that the tourists watching the display of bad taste and nastiness, think they are watching un-developed human beings acting like monkeys in heat? Tourists do NOT see this carnival business as a cultural extravaganza - they see it is West Indian people acting like sex crazed animals. They are not respected for it - but laughed at. It's a live porno review for the masses, including children. Carnival is a poor way to re-connect with old friends. Their has to be a healthier way to do that.

wicked people do Wicked things,,
by: Jeff West

Carnival could be a positive family event, However, if wicked people get involved, then wicked and corruption starts to. Happen, The people who will get mad at this comment are Godless, and as vicious as their activities at Carnival because its a spirit controlling them ,, Since Carnival is all that the Un Godly people have, I say let them do it to death, and have all the fun they can, because soon they will burn in Hell for ever, so have all the sex you can Mr. Devil, hurry, because its almost time for you to pay. :-)
