Bunji Garlin's Born Ready is different to the lyrically-charged songs he has released in the past. I really love the way he lets the riddim breathe in this song. I love the fact that there is so much background singing. With samplers doing most of the background vocals in today's live performances, I can picture how well this song can be delivered on stage. Bunji will really be able to command the stage with a song like this. This song adds variety to his repertoire. It is not what we're used to from the artist, yet it is packed with the high energy that the Fireman's performances are known for.

As for the riddim behind this song, and the final sound, it's really amazing. Big up to its producers, Thygeson (Penn) Joseph and Irvin (Ace) Loctar from Studio 758, St. Lucia, as well as Nikholai Greene out of Precision Productions from Trinidad & Tobago. The beat can really put one in a trance. Lots of suspense created by the use of a single chord in most of the song.

I love the bridge right before the chorus where Bunji Garlin says "Foreigners fly down to party till they lie down... " and so on. Good stuff! Nice break from the use of few words.

I think Bunji Garlin stood a good chance with Born Ready for soca monarch. The song has the power to really mash up the place. But as you may know he has bowed out of that competition along with his wife Fay-Ann Lyons.

The song is simply "madderific"!
