Proud Vincentian

by Mark Anthony
(Toronto, Canada)

I love St Vincent, its people, heritage, music and yes carnival. Every year, a LOT of music comes out of SVG from old, intermediate and new artists. I think that is something to be nurtured and cherished. I can't say I know all that is done for them, but I can say that no matter what is being done, more need to be done to keep them inspired and creative doing what they love to do. If we are second to Trinidad, there is a reason for that and we need to look at and improve ourselves to become second to none.

The building of an international airport is a great start that should be completed to fruition. Cultivating our people and rewarding their efforts in carnival activities for Vincy Mas should be something as natural as breathing. Year after year after year, I visit the land where i was born and will continue to do so out of sheer love for my island and the people and culture. I love and will continue to love more and more my birthplace with each visit. We have a lot to offer any visitor to our island and we need to take care of our artists locally and abroad so they can continue to inspire, touch and grace us with their gifts.

Let carnival be a growing feature of our island and let our artists prosper year after year. I know many Trinidadians who love and respect our island and our music and that is saying a LOT considering their island, birthright and culture. We should always strive to be bigger and better in this respect and lend our support for those who support us.

Thoughts on SVG Music

by Mark
(Toronto)

I find that every year a LOT of music comes out of SVG and it's not just good, it is very very good. Can't take anything away from the other islands, but when i listen to the variety of music coming out of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, I think these artists should be ranked a LOT higher than they are throughout the caribbean and the world.

Just a thought.

Yes - Vincy Soca 2k9

by Outta National
(Atlanta, g. usa)

I'm not from St Vincent (not that it matters - none bias opinion) but I must say they are bringing the only music I can call soca along with some bajan tunes and Antigua. Whole leap ah melody and vibes, fun lyrics and hype, as it originally was. Big up vincy artists and producers.

Enjoy, I'm coming over 2010 for 1 month

Caribbean Ladies by Fa-Fa

by Shadow
(Acton MA)

Caribbean Ladies by Fa-Fa

Caribbean Ladies by Fa-Fa

Caribbean Ladies by Fa-Fa is a wicked tune; it has a nice hook to it and very clever lyrics.

However the lyrics need to be mixed/sample with several other beats in order to bring the lyrics to its full potential. And Caribbean Ladies would be a hit and the number Soca tune in any part of the country not the Caribbean. To be quite frank the tune will go global because of the lyrics & the Caribbean culture & pride world wide.

This tune would be one of his biggest breakout since originating Ragga Soca in addition to that it has the influence to cross over too a larger audience including the hip hop culture.

Big Ups to Fa-Fa & Ras X!!!

Best Wishes
Shadow!

I am a friend of Problem Child, I must say he did it again. His songs are all great. One can easily jump up amd dance to them all. He has once again outdone himself with his music. I really do hope that he win something this year, because he sure do deserve it. Keep up the good work Problem. Also I listened to all the songs on this site and I really enjoyed them, they all did well this year. I am truly impressed.
